Meet the Founder
Starting a candle business has truly come full circle. Candle-making became a form of therapy for me during the height of the pandemic. I experimented with fragrance & essential oils that were deeply inspired by my Haitian culture. It had been almost 15 years since I last visited Haiti. And due to Haiti’s current crisis, shortly after the president’s assassination, I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to visit again. So, I found myself creating aromas that took me back to the islands - tropical/floral scents with subtle woody notes.
Shortly after, the idea for La Caye (La-Kaï meaning home in Creole) Essentials was born. La Caye Essentials provides 100% soy wax, cruelty free, hand poured scented candles with aromas inspired by the owner's Haitian roots. Mango Garden is the sweetest aroma that takes you to the islands with notes of Grapefruit & Mangosteen fragrance oils.

Mango Garden is the first candle release in celebration of birthing a new business, while also creating a life within me. Transitioning into motherhood has been the greatest blessing. I’m so incredibly grateful because now I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
